Your progress stays on your device. No online profile, cloud sync or in-app advertising.
Who we are
LauncherLevelling is an Android launcher and personal productivity app provided by POPBOX (PTY) LTD, trading as PopboxTech (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the app and this policy website.
For privacy questions or requests, email dev@popboxtech.com. Your player name is a local profile label, not an online account.
Information used on your device
The app stores your player name, quests and notes, recurring routines, journal entries, focus sessions, XP, attributes, achievements, schedules, app groups, pinned apps, limits and preferences in its private storage on your device.
It reads the names, icons and package identifiers of launchable installed apps to display your app drawer and apply your chosen rules. If you grant Android usage access, it reads app-use events to calculate screen-time estimates locally.
With calendar permission, the app reads calendar names, account labels and event details such as titles, times and locations from Android’s calendar provider. Calendar accounts may already be synced by another app. LauncherLevelling does not sign in to those accounts or modify their calendars. If you turn an event into a quest, the saved quest includes the event title, calendar/account identifiers and timing details.
This version does not upload your gameplay data, app inventory, usage records or calendar contents to us. It contains no advertising, analytics or crash-reporting SDK, no cloud database connection and no cloud profile sync. Firebase project registration is used for app configuration; it does not by itself upload your local data.
Optional App Guard and accessibility
App Guard uses Android’s Accessibility Service API only when you enable it. It observes foreground window-change events, including app package and activity identifiers, to recognise the open app and show a blocking screen when your chosen focus, app-limit or Punishment Zone rules apply.
The service is configured not to retrieve window contents. It does not read messages, passwords or text you type, and does not capture screenshots or record the screen. Foreground-app information is processed on your device and is not sent to us or used for advertising.
You see a disclosure before setup, and must enable the service in Android Accessibility settings. You can turn off blocking in the app, disable the service in Android settings, or use the guard’s emergency escape. App Guard is a productivity feature, not an accessibility tool for people with disabilities.
Other Android features and your choices
- Default launcher: Android asks you to choose whether LauncherLevelling handles Home. You can choose a different launcher in Android settings.
- Notifications and lock-screen views: optional reminders, widgets and charging views can display quest titles and progress. If enabled, nearby people may see that information without unlocking the phone. Android controls notification visibility.
- Calendar and usage access: you can refuse or revoke access in Android settings. Features that need that access will then be unavailable.
- System voice: optional announcements are sent to your chosen Android text-to-speech engine. That provider’s settings and privacy practices apply; some engines may use online processing. You can disable System voice in the app.
- App removal: an uninstall action opens Android’s confirmation screen. The app cannot silently uninstall other apps.
- Startup and timers: boot and time-change events help restore local reminders and enforce your configured schedules.
Opening a website, email app or another application hands control to that service, which has its own privacy practices.
Purchases, support and this website
Google Play purchases. LauncherLevelling is offered as a one-time paid download. Google Play processes payment and licensing under its own policies. We do not receive your full card details. Google may make order, transaction and financial-report information available to us for support, refunds, accounting and legal obligations.
Support. If you email us, we receive your address, message and any attachments you choose to send. Please avoid sending sensitive quest, calendar or journal content unless it is needed to explain an issue. We use correspondence to respond and resolve requests; our email provider processes it to deliver the service.
This website. These pages use Firebase Hosting, provided by Google. Hosting processes IP addresses and request information to deliver and secure the site. Firebase states that Hosting retains IP data for a few months. We do not add analytics, advertising trackers, cookies, forms or browser local-storage tracking to this site.
Hosting, email and store providers may process information in countries other than your own under their applicable safeguards and terms. See Firebase privacy information and Google’s Privacy Policy.
We do not sell personal information. Information received through support or commerce may be disclosed to service providers who support those purposes, or when required by law or necessary to protect legal rights. We do not have a remote copy of your local gameplay data to share.
Storage, retention and deletion
Local data remains in the app’s private storage until you remove it or clear the app’s storage. Internal previous-save or recovery copies may retain earlier entries. To remove all local app data, including those copies, use Android Settings → Apps → LauncherLevelling → Storage → Clear data / Clear storage, or uninstall the app. Wording varies by device. This permanently removes your local progress.
Android automatic app backup and device-transfer backup are disabled by the app. We cannot restore data lost through uninstalling, clearing storage, device loss or damage. Copies you exported from earlier versions or saved outside the app must be deleted separately.
We retain support correspondence only as long as needed to resolve the request and meet applicable legal or dispute-handling requirements. Transaction records may need to be retained for applicable accounting, tax or legal obligations. Hosting logs follow Google’s retention practices described above.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of personal information we hold, or to restrict or object to its use. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it. We use support information to respond to your request, technical website data for delivery and security, and transaction records to administer purchases and meet legal obligations.
Contact dev@popboxtech.com to exercise your rights or raise a concern. We may need reasonable information to verify a request. For app data that stays entirely on your device, use the local controls and deletion steps above; there is no online account to delete. You may also complain to the data-protection authority in your location, including South Africa’s Information Regulator where applicable.
Children and policy changes
The app is a general productivity tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their personal information through support. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can address it.
We will update this page if the app’s data practices change and revise the effective date. Changes that require additional permission or consent will be presented before the relevant data use begins.
